Dear Critique and Fellow Polluter,
May I call you friend?
I am writing this letter, as it is a very important issue, although rarely makes headline news for the right reasons. Unless the cute animal story, a huge ice shelf collapses, mudslides devastate a city, or hurricane wipes out a state, media are not interested in environmental news, unless in the specialist field. It’s a practical commerce, as headlines need shock to sell. Well sometimes, but there are not many surveys on the public about the type and quality of reported news. Climate change is subtle, but over time shows the instability of temperature differences created by the weather’s wrath. Only now are the media interested in the chaos and devastation caused, as shock sells, but the important issue surely is why? Why is this occurring? How bad is it really? Who is responsible for the cause, and who is most influential to make the changes?
Can you answer these? Is it the politicians, the public, no, it’s the corporate board that needs to compromise profit for ethics, but this is a paradox. As this is what people want to know to explain the incredibly complex interactions of the weather and climate influences. THE WEATHER’S WRATH by ADE PAUL is a highly entertaining fictional novel, and hopefully never fact, but there are notes and the sceptics debate that offer insight to why the confusion exists, between corporate profit and environmental compromise. My view is, even though there might not be a problem, although alot of scientific peer reviewed literature shows global warming is occurring, doing nothing is far more dangerous than changing the habits of a throw-away society. Logically, this does not make sense, as everything tangible is finite and we cannot simply endlessly “chuck stuff out”; but the marketing by large corporations influences our buying patterns amongst all the products and services to make a lazy society where life is made to be easy. Apathy abounds and we are all guilty of this, but this comes at a cost. Both fiscal, socially and environmentally, except the majority of us only see the fiscal implication. Our most important decision is usually how much money it costs. We are made more aware of our environmental responsibility through government and private promotions , but there are ingenius green solutions, no magic bullet, but everything helps.
