Minister and Clare Fianna Fail T.D. Tony Killeen has today welcomed the allocation of €32,000 to Clare County Council to develop integration and anti-racism initiatives.
Clare County Council is one of 11 local authorities to receive funding under the latest round of funding announced by Minister for Integration, Mary White, T.D. Funding of €968,000 was announced for other such bodies by the Minister on 3 December.
Minister Killeen said he welcomed the commitment of Clare County Council to promoting the integration of immigrants. “I wish to commend the council for their readiness to address the changes that have taken place so quickly in the local community during recent years. The Council undertakes a considerable amount of work in engaging with the process of integration of our migrant community in Irish society.”.
He added: “The rapidly changing face, and indeed faces, of County Clare present significant opportunities but also significant challenges. Integration is a very important issue for the county and wider region, and migrants that have located here are key to the continued growth of the region.”
