SCN Announces 2008 Top 50 Integrators

January 14th, 2009

ROCKLEIGH, New Jersey – The annual SCN Top 50 Systems Integrators list has become a point of reference and barometer for our industry. Especially during a slowing global economy, it provides valuable insight regarding financial growth amid speculation about where the overall industry is headed.

Crestron congratulates the integrators that were recognized by Systems Contractor News as the “Top 50 Systems Integrators of 2008″; we honor and salute their hard work, innovation and dedication. Crestron and Systems Contractor News understand that sales is only one method of measuring success, but in this uncertain economic climate, it is a notable achievement to earn such high revenues.

Crestron is proud to contribute to the success of so many of the honorees. It is no small coincidence that 45 of the top 50 integrators are Crestron dealers. Possibly more significant is the upward trend, with more Crestron dealers in the Top 50 this year than in 2007. As competition for projects increases in the marketplace, Crestron continues to provide its dealers with the best products, training and support in the industry.

The Top 10 Crestron integrators on the list are:

1) AVI-SPL, Tampa, Florida

2) The Whitlock Group, Richmond, Virginia

4) Electrosonic, Burbank, California

5) Southern Business Communications, Norcross, Georgia

6) Roscor Corporation, Mount Prospect, Illinois

7) HB Communications, North Haven, Connecticut

8) Diversified Systems, Kenilworth, New Jersey

9) CCS Presentation Systems, Scottsdale, Arizona

10) IVCI, Hauppauge, New York

The Top 50 systems integrators in North America were rated by projected systems integration revenue for 2008. Cases in which companies were also involved in data installation and rental business, commercial systems installation revenue was separated from overall revenue. As is the case every year, this year’s submissions were voluntary. The chart ranks those who were willing to reveal the inner workings of their businesses.

Crestron Eagles Program Donates Home Theater

December 2nd, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Crestron hosted the first Eagles Program dedication ceremony at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital today, unveiling the new home theater donated to provide comfort and entertainment for America’s heroes recovering from injuries sustained during combat overseas. The Crestron Eagles Program was conceived by Crestron President George Feldstein to honor the service and sacrifice of our wounded warriors returning home from battle.

“This theater system represents the largest single donation any military hospital has ever received,” explained Pete Baca Jr., USMC Ret., CTS. “They may get a thousand or even five thousand dollars, but they were amazed when I told them what we wanted to do.”

The home theater means so much more than mere entertainment to these men and women who are undergoing long-term physical and occupational therapy. “We treat the person rather than the injury,” said Colonel Terrence McKenrick, Commandant of Walter Reed. “These Warriors in Transition receive physical rehabilitation, occupational therapy and professional education so they are fully prepared to re-enter society.” The emotional aspect of recovery cannot be underestimated. Colonel McKenerick explains that socialization is vital for emotional health and a complete recovery.

“Before the theater was installed, soldiers would stay in their rooms all day with the doors closed – shut off and withdrawn from life,” recalls Col. McKenrick. “This gets them out of seclusion and reconnected with the outside world.”

The ribbon cutting was a simple celebration of valor, commitment and hope. The community room was transformed into a state-of-the-art digital home theater, adorned with banners, flowers and balloons to mark the special occasion. The more than forty “warriors in transition,” including five brave soldiers who had recently received their Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars, were overwhelmed by the technology and the generosity exhibited by Crestron and its partners.

Crestron donated an Adagio® home theater system, CEN-IDOC interface for iPod®, TPMC-8X Isys i/O™ WiFi touchpanel and a 52-inch HD plasma. Chris Wildfoerster, Director of Business Development at Crestron, called upon partner companies to contribute to complete the system. “It took just one phone call to each partner,” said Wildfoerster. “Once I explained what we were doing, everyone wanted to help.” LG Electronics, Velodyne, Triad and Marshall Furniture each contributed to this life changing gift. Jose Rodriguez of Dal-Media and Kevin Busza of ICD Systems donated their time and talents for the system installation and programming.

“We really appreciate the support and kindness that Crestron and their partners have shown us,” said Command Sergeant Major Jeffrey Hartless. “This theater makes a huge difference in the lives of our wounded warriors.”

Everyone who participated in and contributed toward the Crestron Eagle Program donation at Walter Reed was inspired by the troops and humbled by the gratitude they expressed. After Vin Bruno, Director of Marketing at Crestron, presented the Eagles plaque to Colonel McKenrick, Crestron was proud to receive a certificate of appreciation from the Warrior Transition Brigade which read:

“For exceptional support and dedication to our wounded, injured and ill warriors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Your generosity and caring attitude makes a positive impact on many Warrior’s lives. Thank you for your outstanding support!”

The next hospital scheduled to receive a home theater center is The Wounded Warriors Battalion East at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. “I believe that every company in the private sector should do whatever they can to support and honor the men and women who have selflessly sacrificed so much to defend our country,” said Mr. Feldstein.

Crestron TPS-6X Honored as 2008 CE Pro High-Impact Product

December 2nd, 2008

ROCKLEIGH, NEW JERSEY – CE Pro and EH Publishing recently announced the 2008 CE Pro High-Impact Product (CHIP) of the Year Awards at EHX Fall in Long Beach, California. The latest Crestron touchpanel, the wireless Isys® TPS-6X, was among the honored products. Winners were chosen by custom residential integrators and readers of CE Pro.

CE Pro Editor-In-Chief, Jason Knott announced the winners at this year’s awards presentation. “The CHIPs are unlike any other awards in the industry,” said Knott. “The winners are exclusively nominated, and then voted on, by integrators. The winners really do represent the best among the rank-and-file of custom installation.”

High-Impact Products were judged on criteria such as helping dealers open a previously “untapped” market segment, boosting integrators’ efficiency by making installations faster and simpler, or increasing custom installers’ profitability by offering a solid margin. Products are recognized in categories that include audio, video, control/automation, power management, digital phone systems and screens.

The TPS-6X is the next generation of touchpanels, designed as a wired Ethernet tabletop and a long-range 2-way RF wireless controller. Offering extreme speed, versatility and reliability, the TPS-6X is sleek, contoured and lightweight. Docked, TPS-6X displays full-motion video in a scalable window, undocked it instantly switches to RF without the hassles of WiFi.

The 2008 CHIP Award for the TPS-6X follows the 2007 “Innovator of the Year” Award Crestron won at EHX Fall last year.
