Award Winning Technology

September 30th, 2008

Measurand Inc is proud to announce that President and Founder, Lee Danisch, will receive the Dave Mitchell Award of Distinction on Friday, October 3rd, 2008.

Measurand is best known for its innovation in shape sensing technology. This award is for Mr. Danisch’s latest invention, known as ShapeAccelArray (SAA). SAA is a geotechnical device that can measure tiny movements in the ground to forewarn of landslides or earthquakes.

This award winning technology stems from Measurand’s original innovation, ShapeTape, which has evolved into motion capture hardware, MRI research tools and now geological ground movement technology.

Motion Capture without Fingers is Lifeless!

August 19th, 2008

Another successful Siggraph2008! The 3 dimensions of ShapeHand were a hit. ShapeHand can be used to add hand and finger motion to existing mocap data by playing back the full body data in MotionBuilder while simultaneously recording the ShapeHand. Just like a voice over except with hands … a hand over! ShapeHand can be used, in real-time, with an optical system by synchronizing the data. A time code can be embedded in both the optical and the ShapeHand data. When imported into MotionBuilder the two files are automatically synchronized. And finally, ShapeHand can be used with ShapeWrap III, the only motion capture system with good finger data. ShapeHand captures the best finger data of any motion capture glove. Stop animating fingers by hand. Learn how at motion-capture-system.com

Motion Capture Demonstartion at th XSI boot during Siggraph 2008 by Carl Callewaert

July 31st, 2008

Join Carl Callewaert, from the Centre for Arts and Technology, at the XSI booth during Siggraph 2008. He will be demonstrating how his students used XSI Motor, Valve Source Engine, and Measurand’s ShapeWrap III motion capture system to model their school, capture the motion, and create a game, all during an 11 week course. The students used XSI motor to model their school and teachers. They then added motion to the characters using Measurand’s ShapeWrap III motion capture system. Finally, they brought it all together to create a paintball game using the Valve Source Engine.
